The Nightlings: Chapter 20

This was hell, Monday thought. In the 2 day wake since Henry’s death, she couldn’t escape it. The Blairs had a stake in most of the business in town; each had their own tribute to him. Syringa was in mourning. Every time she watched the news and Henry was on, it felt like a knife in her chest: the irony wasn’t lost on her.

Henry Blair, son of business tycoon Abraham Blair and assistant manager at Genesis Inc., dead at 23. Found murdered in his bed by his little sister. Read the rest of this entry »

The Nightlings: Chapter 19

The bakery was closed. Ezra sat at the table, doing nothing but smoked his 5th cigarette. He was a wreck. His hair lacked its usual gel and was ruffled in all directions. No longer dressed in his slacks or button down shirts, he now matched Monday in sweat pants and an old tee. His bloodshot eyes were hollow as they looked past Monday and out the window. The Nightlings: Chapter 18

The room was bright as it was blurry. Monday tried to focus on the florescent light above her but her head hurt too much. Her eyes flickered as she tried to tell where she was at. Monday dug her nails into the plaster waiting for it to go away. It would after a few minutes, or at least, it has the past few days. Already she could feel her head ease up. Monday rested her head on the mirror and shook it off. She pulled the costume on the rest of the way-a devil costume that was nothing more than a short red dress with a horn headband- and took a look in the mirror. She clamped her hands over her mouth in shock.

The Nightlings: Chapter 16

The card flipped in between her figure’s. Sitting at the kitchen bar, with the blue bottle on the counter in front of her and a week to think about it, Monday was still debating on whether or not to call him. Last night she had disposed of Steven Gale-not wanting to delay her next bottle. There was a pang of hunger as Lenny packed him away, Monday regretted not draining him then and there. She didn’t know when her next meal was, that was a scary feeling that she hoped to never have again.
